MONFALCONE – The Superior Council of Public Works has given its assent to the Localized variant of the Port. Monfalcone, if the rest of the procedure were to be successful, could have one of the longest commercial quays in Italy. The Municipality makes it known with a note that “having the maximum space available for the commercial quay is a primary objective. With this opinion, therefore, we have made an enormous step to widen the range of our traffics and improve the discipline of the management of the cruises”.
In the background, in fact, remains that which, to the resumption of the season of the “white ships” could turn out to be a true battle of the spaces between the classical traffics and the new business that sees MSC mainly engaged. The presence of big cruise ships, in fact, interferes with the rest of the activity, and a solution is being sought.
The embellishment of a small dock would allow having more space available even if the Council of Public Works – always underlines the Municipality “has stressed the absence of promiscuity between the influxes of the nautical, the commercial ones and the manoeuvres of the cruise ships”.
The next steps, preparatory to the start of the works, will be the Environmental assessment by the Region and the opinion of the Superintendence.
