TRIESTE – The ports of Trieste and Monfalcone presented themselves to the international project cargo and general cargo market at Breakbulk Europe 2026 in Rotterdam, the world’s leading event dedicated to oversized cargo, industrial components and project cargo logistics.

The Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea took part in the event together with Trieste Marine Terminal, Samer & Co. Shipping, HHLA PLT Italy, FHP Terminal Monfalcone and Nogarosped within the collective stand of Italian ports coordinated by Assoporti.

On the sidelines of the Dutch event, the Authority’s president, Marco Consalvo, paid an institutional visit to the port and Port Authority of Antwerp-Bruges. The meetings focused on possible areas of cooperation between the two port systems, with particular attention to rail intermodality and opportunities for developing traffic between Belgium’s leading port and the ports of the Eastern Adriatic.

The event attracted more than 11,000 professionals and over 600 exhibitors from more than 120 countries, representing an important promotional opportunity for the Eastern Adriatic ports in the highest value-added segments of international logistics. «Breakbulk Europe is a privileged showcase for presenting the capabilities and prospects of our ports in a high value-added sector», said Port Authority president Marco Consalvo. «Trieste and Monfalcone can rely on a production system strongly oriented towards international markets and on one of the most developed rail networks in Europe».

According to Consalvo, the competitiveness of the regional port system is supported by an industrial supply chain that includes shipbuilding, heavy steel fabrication, plant engineering and major industrial construction, sectors that generate traffic characterised by high technical and logistics complexity.
