TRIESTE – Trieste is preparing to host one of the most important cruise events of the year. Tomorrow, 20 June, TUI Cruises’ new Mein Schiff Flow will be officially inaugurated in the capital of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The ship, the second unit in the InTUItion class and sister ship of Mein Schiff Relax, arrived in Trieste after being delivered by Fincantieri at the Monfalcone shipyard. Before the inauguration ceremony, the unit carried out liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering at berth 57 of Pier VII in the port of Trieste, confirming the port’s growing attention to operations linked to lower-impact fuels.
With a gross tonnage of 160,000 tonnes and a capacity of around 4,000 passengers, Mein Schiff Flow is designed to operate with an LNG-powered dual-fuel system and is equipped with emission-reduction technologies. «We are deeply honoured that TUI Cruises has chosen Trieste for an event of this scale», said Marco Consalvo, president of the Authority, stressing that the choice represents recognition of a partnership that began in 2018, when the company started calling regularly at the port.
The ship will arrive at Molo Bersaglieri at 8 a.m. In the late afternoon it will leave the berth to allow Mein Schiff 4 to dock and will then position offshore, near the Diga Vecchia and parallel to Piazza Unità d’Italia, where the inauguration ceremony will take place.
