TRIESTE – International maritime links between Trieste, the Slovenian coast and Croatian Istria resume today.
The announcement was made by regional councillor for Infrastructure and Territory Cristina Amirante, who stressed that in 2025 the fast connection between Trieste, Piran, Poreč, Rovinj and Mali Lošinj carried around 18,000 passengers, with an average load factor of 75% and growth of 3% compared with 2023.
The service, entrusted to Liberty Lines under the agreement supported by the Region, will remain operational until 31 August 2026. The motor vessel used for the connections has already arrived in the port of Trieste and the final technical activities required to launch the sailings have been completed.
The offer includes connections six days a week, with services suspended on Tuesdays, to the main tourist destinations of the Northern Adriatic: Piran, Poreč, Rovinj and Mali Lošinj.
The initiative is part of the regional strategy for developing integrated mobility, which aims to connect maritime transport, rail, buses and cycle networks, strengthening links between the different shores of the Northern Adriatic and promoting lower-impact forms of transport.
