TRIESTE – BAT Trieste continues to strengthen its weight in the local economy. According to the third edition of the study carried out by MIB Trieste School of Management, the company’s Innovation Hub, located on land managed by Interporto Trieste, activated total output of €275.6 million in the national economic system in 2025.
The analysis shows that for every euro of output generated by the company, a multiplier effect of up to €5.5 is activated and that more than 90% of the added value produced remains between Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The plant, launched in 2022 in the Interport area, has reached almost 400 direct employees in just over four years. In 2025, turnover approached €50 million, while total investments reached €230 million.
According to the study, the direct impact of BAT Trieste’s activities is worth around €50 million, to which are added €159 million in indirect effects along the supply chain and further induced effects bringing the total to €275.6 million. The employment activated, including direct staff and the supply chain, is estimated at 594 full-time equivalent jobs.
The study also highlights the company’s role as a driver of economic and employment development for the local area, emphasising the relationships built with suppliers, institutions and the local community during the growth of the Trieste site.
