TRIESTE – Change at the top of Adriafer, the public company that manages rail shunting operations in the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone. The shareholders’ meeting appointed Giovanni Gommellini as sole director. He comes from TCR, Ravenna’s container terminal, and had taken part in the selection process launched by the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea.

The appointment marks the departure from the role of chief executive officer of Maurizio Cociancich, who will nevertheless continue to work within the company as general manager. Chairman Giuseppe Casini is also leaving Adriafer.

A Genoese manager with an economic and financial background, Gommellini has more than thirty years of experience in logistics, transport, industry and business management. A graduate in Economics and Business from the University of Genoa, he began his career in auditing before holding positions in administration and control at a leading group in steel trading. After a period as a corporate and tax consultant, he served as chief financial officer, chief executive officer and general manager in industrial companies and firms operating in intermodal logistics and public transport.

His most recent role was as general manager of TCR – Terminal Container Ravenna, a position he held from April 2023 to April 2026, with responsibility for managing Ravenna’s container terminal. He was previously strategic consultant to Captrain Italia, commercial manager of Cargo Solution and strategic consultant to Voltri Terminal Europa, one of Italy’s leading container terminals. Between 2013 and 2015 he served as general manager of TPL Linea, the local public transport company in Savona, and from 2010 to 2012 he was a board member of the Gavio Group.
