TRIESTE – The Port Network Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea has approved a contribution of 191,385 euros in favour of Nuova CLP Soc. Coop and Serviport.
These are the two companies responsible for managing peak workloads at the ports of Venice and Chioggia, respectively. In detail, Nuova CPL will receive 118,485 euros and Serviport 72,900. The contributions refer to the period January-March 2021, but other allocations will likely occur in the coming months.
The aid refers to the difficulties related to the Covid-19 pandemic. With the so-called “Relaunch Decree” (art. 199 of Law Decree no. 34/2020), the government has provided specific measures to respond to the drop in port traffic. In particular, the decree authorizes the Port System Authorities, compatibly with available budgets, to pay a specific contribution to port labour suppliers according to art. 17 of Law 84/1994. The federal grant (cumulative with the Indennità Mancato Avviamento) is fixed at 90 euros per employee, concerning the fewer days of work compared to 2019 and the maximum expendable amount for the year 2021 is set at 2 million euros.
In the ports of Venice and Chioggia, temporary work suppliers are suffering a drastic reduction in job opportunities, with the risk of severe fallout on business continuity. For this reason – explains the Authority – it was considered to safeguard their function, protecting employment and human capital.
