RAVENNA – Emilia-Romagna, with the port of Ravenna, is presenting its logistics and infrastructure system in China to consolidate the region’s role in connections between Europe and Asia and develop new opportunities for economic and technological cooperation.

From today until 1 July, regional councillor for Mobility, Transport and Infrastructure Irene Priolo will lead an institutional mission between Shanghai and Beijing. The central moment will be participation in Transport Logistic China 2026, the main Asia-Pacific event dedicated to logistics, supply chain and mobility, where the Region will be present together with the Port System Authority of the Central-Northern Adriatic Sea, Sapir and the ITL Foundation.

In Shanghai, the strengths of the regional logistics system will be presented: the port of Ravenna, which handles between 25 and 27 million tonnes of goods every year, the network of rail terminals and interports connected to the European corridors of the TEN-T network, the Simplified Logistics Zone and the innovation ecosystem of Emilia-Romagna’s Data Valley.

The delegation will meet representatives of the Consulate General of Italy, ICE, SACE, Intesa Sanpaolo, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China and international operators in the sector to explore investment and cooperation opportunities.

«The logistics network is one of the strategic infrastructures of competitiveness», Priolo stressed, highlighting how the integration of the port of Ravenna, railways, interports, ZLS and innovation makes Emilia-Romagna a reference point for logistics in North-Eastern Europe. The councillor also described the Chinese event as «an important opportunity to strengthen economic and institutional relations with a market of major importance such as China and attract new investment».

The mission will then continue in Beijing with meetings dedicated to the environment, transport and technological innovation at China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The programme also includes visits to the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-Town), Xiaomi’s electric vehicle factory and the JD.com campus, one of the world’s largest logistics and e-commerce operators.

The initiative is part of the framework of consolidated relations between Emilia-Romagna and China, in particular with the provinces of Guangdong and Shandong, and aims to strengthen cooperation in logistics, smart mobility, digitalisation and sustainability.
