**TRIESTE –** Jens Peder Nielsen has been appointed CEO of Aquila srl, a company owned by Hungarian state entity Adria Port Zrt.
As previously reported, the Danish executive recently stepped down as managing director of Samer Seaports & Terminals Srl—DFDS’s subsidiary at the Port of Trieste—after leading his final board meeting there. His seven-year tenure ends as he takes on a new role overseeing the construction and future operations of the new multipurpose terminal in the former Aquilinia refinery area, located in the southern part of the Friuli Venezia Giulia port complex.
The new terminal will focus on Ro-Ro, containers, general cargo, and project cargo, with a particular emphasis on promoting Hungarian trade, as Nielsen himself highlighted in a recent social media post.
