TRIESTE – The North Adriatic Sea Port Authority (AdSPMAS) is launching a new energy-efficiency project at the Port of Venice, with the installation of photovoltaic systems on the buildings in Santa Marta and San Basilio.

The project involves Buildings 12 and 13, which house the Authority, and Building 15, used by the Harbour Master’s Office. Total investment is around €650,000, with €530,000 financed through Italy’s PNRR under the Green Ports programme. Works will be completed by June 2026. An integrated rooftop photovoltaic system will be installed on the three buildings, alongside measures to improve energy efficiency and optimize consumption.

Panels will be placed on the inner and central roof pitches to reduce visual impact. The modules, featuring red pigmented tempered glass, are designed to blend with traditional terracotta tiles and the historic setting of the area. Technically, the system will include 48 panels on Building 12 for 17.28 kW, 78 panels on Building 13 for 28.08 kW and 143 panels on Building 15 for 51.48 kW. Total installed capacity will reach 96.8 kW. On-site generation will cut costs over time, increase energy autonomy and reduce emissions. Estimated environmental benefits include a reduction of more than 69 tonnes of CO₂ per year, equivalent to the effect of around 1,500 trees planted.
