TRIESTE – nlcomp, a Monfalcone-based startup specialising in the development of recyclable composite materials, attended in Brussels the first General Assembly of the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA).

«Taking part in ECCA’s first General Assembly,” commented Fabio Bignolini, co-founder and CEO of nlcomp, “is an important step in our journey to make the entire composites supply chain circular. As a startup born to overcome the limits of traditional fibreglass, we want to actively contribute to common standards, guidelines and measurable targets for recycled materials throughout the life cycle. Dialogue with Europe’s leading players and policymakers allows us to bring rComposite experience in boating, wind energy and industry, accelerating the transition towards a sustainable competitive advantage for Europe».”

The sector alliance promoted by EuCIA and launched in partnership with JEC, with the aim of accelerating the transition towards a circular composites economy in Europe, brings together the main supply-chain stakeholders to define shared circularity targets, eco-design standards and guidelines for the use of recycled and recovered materials.

Founded in 2019, nlcomp (Northern Light Composites), a pioneering company in circular composite materials with applications ranging from boating to wind energy, designs, develops and industrialises patented recyclable composite materials, including rComposite, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional fibreglass. The company validated its technology starting with sailing, with award-winning prototypes at international events such as the ecoracer project and through projects with major Italian shipyards such as Cantiere del Pardo, before extending rComposite to prototypes for the wind sector and to low-impact industrial structural components.
