TRIESTE –Fincantieri has delivered the new cruise ship “Viking Mira” at its Ancona shipyard. The vessel will operate on itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe and marks a further step in the collaboration between the two groups, which began in 2012.
“Viking Mira” has a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300, features 499 cabins and can accommodate up to 998 passengers. The ship belongs to the small cruise vessel segment, a category on which Viking has built its positioning over the years in the international premium market.
According to Fincantieri, the ship was built in compliance with the latest international safety and navigation regulations and is equipped with high-efficiency technologies and propulsion systems designed to reduce emissions and environmental impact.
The delivery continues one of the strongest partnerships in the European cruise industry. Taking into account ships already ordered, contracts signed and options agreed in recent months, the overall portfolio between Fincantieri and Viking now rises to 26 units, although some of the agreements remain subject to customary market financing conditions.
Last March, Fincantieri also announced a new order from Viking for two expedition ships, with deliveries scheduled for 2030 and 2031, as well as an option for two further ocean ships expected in 2034.
