TRIESTE – The port’s first hybrid harbour crane is now operational at Porto Marghera. At the FHP Transped terminal, a new Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 mobile harbour crane has entered service, capable of handling more than 650,000 tonnes of steel per year.
The machine has a lifting capacity of 125 tonnes and an operating radius of 51 metres. It allows cargo to be handled without repositioning, with faster discharge times and greater operational continuity in the break-bulk cycle. This is a first for the Port of Venice and a significant step for FHP Group, strengthening its position in this traffic segment. The investment focuses on efficiency and sustainability: the crane recovers energy during braking and reuses it for subsequent lifts, reducing the load on the diesel engine, fuel consumption and emissions.
The terminal upgrade is complemented by the arrival of new high-efficiency horizontal handling equipment. The forklifts, fitted with the Brigade anti-collision system, improve safety and operator comfort, enabling the infrastructure to deliver maximum operating capacity within an integrated logistics system.
