TRIESTE – Somec has secured a contract worth more than €41 million for the interiors of three of the world’s largest cruise ships, strengthening its position in high-end ship outfitting. The announcement comes from the Veneto-based group following the latest contract signed by another subsidiary. The order concerns the Mestieri division through its subsidiary TSI – Total Solution Interiors. The contract is linked to three newbuilds belonging to a new ship class, currently under construction by an Italian shipbuilding group for a North American operator among the global leaders in the cruise segment. Deliveries are scheduled for 2029, 2031 and 2033.
Design activities will start in 2027, while the economic impact is expected between 2027 and 2032. TSI will handle the design, production and fit-out of around 5,800 square metres of public areas per ship, mainly located on deck 8. The scope includes around ten themed restaurants and bars, including a dedicated brewery, as well as an articulated set of family spaces: a large video-game room, a Treehouse linked to the main Promenade via two internal slides, and an area dedicated to children and teenagers.
This is the largest order ever secured by TSI. For the Mestieri division it provides multi-year visibility and further validates its “single interlocutor” model, covering the full project lifecycle—from engineering to installation—with control over timing, coordination and final outcomes. The ships will have a gross tonnage of around 230,000 tonnes and capacity close to 8,000 passengers. They rank among the largest vessels currently under construction worldwide, in line with the sector’s trend towards ever larger units and higher technical complexity.
