TRIESTE – The Port of Ravenna is stepping up on cybersecurity and the resilience of port systems, strengthening cooperation with Italian and Croatian ports.

This is the main outcome of the meeting held in recent days in Ancona במסגרת the European CRESPORT project (Cyber and RESilience for the POrts of the Adriatic), financed under the Interreg Italy-Croatia programme.

There were two key moments: a workshop dedicated to cybersecurity in the Port System Authorities and the fifth Steering Committee meeting of the project, organised by the Ravenna port itself. A shared line emerged from the discussions: investing in digital infrastructure, advanced organisational models and common strategies to address cyber risks, now central to the security and competitiveness of ports.

The workshop brought together institutions, cybersecurity experts, port operators and law enforcement agencies, with the aim of building an integrated approach to managing digital threats in the Adriatic-Ionian area. Among the topics addressed were the national and European regulatory framework, the fight against cybercrime and compliance with the NIS 2 Directive, which imposes stricter standards for the protection of critical infrastructure. Considerable attention was also devoted to the opportunities offered by the NRRP for strengthening digital infrastructure, regarded as a strategic asset for ensuring operational continuity and the reliability of port services.

During the fifth Steering Committee meeting, the project partners reviewed the state of progress of the activities, confirming their strong commitment to developing innovative solutions for the security of port systems. In particular, the ongoing pilot actions and the next operational phases were analysed, with a focus on project governance and any need for adjustments.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review communication and dissemination activities, considered essential for spreading a shared cybersecurity culture within the port community.
