TRIESTE – New order for Somec in the cruise shipbuilding sector. The Veneto-based group has announced a €56 million order through its Horizons division, which specialises in engineered systems for naval architecture and civil façades.

The order covers the supply and installation of glazed systems on four newly built cruise ships commissioned by a leading Italian shipbuilding group on behalf of an international cruise company. More specifically, the work includes balcony areas and windows, around 2,000 for each ship. Operational activities will begin in 2027 and continue until 2036, with revenues distributed over the full duration of the contract.

The order follows another major contract announced by Somec on 7 May: a €38 million contract relating to five cruise ships under construction at a major French shipyard for two international companies.

In recent years, the cruise segment has confirmed itself as one of Somec’s main growth drivers, supported by shipowners’ multi-year investment plans and by shipyards’ still-high orderbooks. The group closed 2025 with consolidated net profit of €7.1 million, revenues of €370 million and adjusted EBITDA up 14% to €34.3 million. Its backlog had reached €771 million, with visibility on orders through to 2033.
