TRIESTE – Adria Terminali is opening a new construction site in the Sežana area, close to the Italian border, to increase capacity and mark an operational step forward after its first container block train.
Construction has begun on a new area of around 6,000 square metres intended for the installation of two tensile structures. Once fully operational, the project will provide around 2,900 square metres of additional covered space, alongside open-air areas for storing various types of goods. The area will be fully fenced, with customs status and video surveillance systems.
The terminal, which operates as a dry port for Luka Koper, the company managing the port of Koper, acts as a logistics extension and warehouse facility for different types of traffic. It is a multipurpose and intermodal platform, with activities ranging from general cargo and breakbulk to the handling of vehicles, full and empty containers and project cargo of up to 50 tonnes. All warehouses operate under customs regime.
The investment is part of a broader strategy to strengthen logistics flows along the North-South and East-West corridors, with the aim of intercepting traffic bound for central Europe and the Balkans.
On the operational side, the company also recorded a significant milestone at the end of 2025, with the loading of the first container block train in its history. The operation, carried out in cooperation with MBOX Terminals DOO, involved a train bound for Niš, Serbia.
