TRIESTE – The 2026 calendar of transit bans for heavy vehicles on the Lueg Bridge, along the A13 Brenner motorway, has been published. This was announced by Asfinag, the company that manages Austria’s motorway network.

The bridge is a key node for international freight flows between Italy, Austria and Germany and is currently affected by a major refurbishment project. The works, started on 1 January 2025—more than 55 years after the viaduct was built—will continue until 2030 and are already having significant effects on cross-border traffic.

The new overview of bans is intended as a support tool for transport companies’ logistics planning. The calendar must be read by distinguishing the direction of travel: the letter “S” indicates the southbound direction towards the Brenner Pass and Italy, while “N” indicates the northbound direction towards Kufstein and Germany.
Days are marked with a colour code indicating transit conditions. Blue indicates two lanes available with no bans for heavy vehicles. Orange indicates two lanes open but with a transit ban for trucks. Purple indicates that only one lane is available, also with a ban for heavy vehicles.

The calendar also highlights night-time bans and extraordinary restrictions linked to adverse weather conditions, such as snowfall, shown through specific coloured stripes. These elements make the document a key tool for organising traffic flows along one of Europe’s main Alpine corridors.
