TRIESTE – The Nautical Academy of the Adriatic celebrates in Trieste its 10th anniversary as one of the leading centers for professional training in the maritime and logistics sectors.
Founded in 2015 as an ITS (Higher Technical Institute), the Academy has progressively expanded its educational offering. Alongside traditional courses in nautical sciences and transport, in recent years new programs have been launched in emerging and increasingly in-demand fields: from infomobility to logistics, from ship design and production to cybersecurity applied to the maritime-port cluster. The range has also been extended to include training for railway machinists, sailmakers and assistant store managers, linking the maritime sector with the broader domain of sustainable mobility and business services.

The figures confirm this growth: since 2015, 431 students have graduated, while 2024 alone saw 243 enrollments. The most significant data, however, concern employment: 95% of graduates find a job within one year of completing their course, showing that the programs successfully meet industry demand and provide skills immediately applicable in the labor market.
“Ten years of the Nautical Academy of the Adriatic are a celebration for this city — a symbol of tradition, but above all of the evolution of professions linked to the blue economy, which constantly require new competencies,” said Alessia Rosolen, Regional Councillor for Labour, Education and Training, as she opened the anniversary ceremony on Tuesday in Trieste.
“In these ten years,” Rosolen added, “extraordinary progress has been made in post-diploma education and training, delivering great satisfaction especially in terms of employment outcomes. A small foundation was born that has produced major results and, together with the other ITS foundations in Friuli Venezia Giulia, has seen growth in both skills and services for young people.”

Also speaking at the Trieste ceremony were General Director Bruno Zvech and Director of Education Paola Catalano, who highlighted the milestones achieved over the decade and the future prospects. The Academy, they stressed, has become a steady point of reference for specialist training in the maritime and transport sector, capable of attracting young people and offering them concrete professional opportunities.
