TRIESTE – Luka Koper closes 2025 with growing results and the approval of its financial statements by the Supervisory Board.
The Slovenian group recorded revenue of 380.3 million euros, up 15% compared with 2024. EBIT rose to 96.3 million euros (+44%), while net profit reached 81.5 million euros (+35%). The result was achieved in a complex context for global logistics, marked by instability on maritime routes and the continued diversion of traffic via the Cape of Good Hope.
On the operational side, the container terminal exceeded 1.27 million TEU for the first time, with 12% growth driven by hinterland connections and the adaptation of maritime services between the Far East and the Mediterranean. Car and Ro-Ro traffic also increased, with 914,817 vehicles handled (+3%), supported mainly by imports from China. Overall throughput stood at 23 million tonnes, stable year on year, while the rail share reached 51%.
«We have shown that we have a flexible port model, capable of adapting to changes in the economic context», said Management Board president Nevenka Kržan, stressing that the results were achieved during a particularly intense investment phase.
The group has in fact accelerated a development plan that will continue until 2028. The main projects include the expansion of the container terminal, with new quays and operational areas that will bring annual capacity to more than 1.8 million TEU. Work is also under way on a multi-storey car park with 11,700 spaces for vehicle traffic, as well as a new quay in the second basin and an automated warehouse for steel products. In 2025, several projects were also completed, including a new passenger terminal, new storage areas and the modernisation of operational equipment.
Sustainability remains central to the group’s strategy. Last year, 50.5 million euros, equal to 38% of investments, were allocated to environmental measures. These include the electrification of infrastructure and the development of renewable energy, with installed photovoltaic capacity rising to 5.8 MW. A new electrical substation is also planned, which will in future allow ships to be powered from shore.
For 2026, Luka Koper expects to continue on its growth path, the Slovenian port management company explains, while maintaining close attention to geopolitical developments and their possible effects on maritime routes and the management of logistics flows.
