TRIESTE – On 17 November the MSC STACEY will be available for break bulk and container loading from the port of Trieste (Molo VII) to the United States, without transshipment.
This is not a permanent service but only a spot “run” (at least this is what is known at the moment) carried out with a container vessel coming from the Far East and set to call other Mediterranean ports before reaching the East Coast of the United States, namely New York, Boston, Norfolk, Charleston and Freeport (Bahamas).
This opportunity reopens the — currently hardly feasible — possibility of establishing a stable connection between the port of Friuli Venezia Giulia, especially with a view to potential exports from manufacturing centres in Friuli.
Some operators had tried to consider the idea, but none had ever been able to imagine sufficient cargo volumes to make the link viable without going through Tyrrhenian ports, naturally dedicated to transatlantic connections.
