TRIESTE – Fabrizio Renato Russo, chartered accountant and president of the Venezia Giulia Economic Development Consortium (Coseveg), is the new sole director of Interporto Gorizia-Sdag.
The appointment was formalised yesterday during the company’s shareholders’ meeting. The Municipality of Gorizia is the company’s sole shareholder. On this front, according to Russo’s initial statements, the interport — specialised in “fresh” traffic with neighbouring Slovenia — could open up to new shareholdings in order to become firmly integrated into Friuli Venezia Giulia’s logistics system.
In recent years, in fact, the acquisition of the facility by Interporto Trieste, which already owns 85% of the Cervignano interport, had failed to go through. The Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority had identified Interporto Trieste as the entity under which a single regional offer in logistics and intermodality should be developed.
Following this line, in 2024 the three regional entities — Interporto Centro Ingrosso Pordenone remains excluded for the time being — signed a cooperation agreement. In the meantime, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and, in particular, the department led by Cristina Amirante, also set up a steering committee with the same objectives.
Russo takes over from Luciano Grendene, who had led Sdag for nine years. Grendene leaves after the approval of financial statements showing a profit of 63,000 euros and more than 80 companies based in an area of around 650,000 square metres.
