TRIESTE – The regulations governing the ports of Trieste, Koper and Rijeka will be at the centre of a conference scheduled for tomorrow from 10.00 at the University of Trieste, as part of the Adriaports FORUM format in collaboration with the university.
The debate on possible forms of cooperation between the main ports of the Northern Adriatic periodically reignites, driven by traffic growth, infrastructure investments and international competition. This is the focus of the meeting “Three ports, three regulatory frameworks – Trieste, Koper and Rijeka between competition, cooperation and common development”, scheduled in the Sala Atti Cacciaguerra on the first floor of the central building of the University of Trieste.
The initiative aims to provide a technical analysis of the relationship between the ports of Trieste, Koper and Rijeka, and of the regulatory differences in view of possible common developments.
Speakers will include Professor Giuseppe Borruso of the University of Trieste, Professor Iva Tuhtan Grgić of the University of Rijeka, Professor Mitja Grbec of the University of Primorska, Professor Massimo Campailla of the University of Trieste and Čedomir Bojanič, president of the Transport Association of the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia.
The aim of the meeting is to provide analytical tools to understand whether, and to what extent, the three Northern Adriatic ports can develop closer forms of cooperation while remaining competitors on the market, in a context characterised by different national regulations and often converging economic interests.
