TRIESTE – A crash involving three heavy goods vehicles brought the A4 motorway to a standstill on Saturday afternoon between Portogruaro and San Stino di Livenza, heading towards Venice. The collision occurred at 3.10 pm (km 446): a truck driver was injured and trapped in the wreckage, but was found conscious by first responders.
Autostrade Alto Adriatico immediately activated the new automatic mandatory closure at Portogruaro, a procedure that made it possible to reroute traffic in just ten minutes onto the A28 Portogruaro–Conegliano motorway. At the time of the accident, variable message signs were already reporting slowdowns due to the heavy flow of trucks following the Immaculate Conception holiday weekend.
Firefighters, Suem 118 medical teams and traffic police are on site for rescue operations, investigations and traffic management.
