TRIESTE – The Memorandum of Understanding between the Municipality of Trieste, Arpa FVG (Regional Agency for Environmental Protection of Friuli Venezia Giulia) and the Port Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, within the Green Ports project, was signed today.
With the signing of the agreement, the actions and activities to be implemented in the port area to reduce environmental impacts resulting from the activities have been shared. In particular, it was shared that the Network Authority will join the public procedure “Interventions of renewable energy and energy efficiency in ports – GREEN PORTS” with different types of interventions.
The planned actions will concern energy production from renewable sources, the energy efficiency of port buildings, electric means of transport, interventions on inefficient port energy infrastructures. The Municipality of Trieste and ARPA FVG will support the Authority in the authorization procedures and the implementation of intervention monitoring systems.
«The protocol signed with ARPA and the Municipality of Trieste is fundamental for the development of projects connected to the PNRR funding so-called Green ports», commented Zeno D’Agostino, president of the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone, explaining how these actions will complement the activities that the Authority will have to guarantee towards the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
Both the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone are waiting to receive specific funding from the Complementary fund for ports, intended for the so-called cold ironing. In particular, 24 million euros are expected for Trieste and 7 million euros for Monfalcone.
