TRIESTE – Track laying has also begun on Lot 1 of the new Koper–Divača railway.
The work involves the Lokev tunnel (6,714 meters), the longest along the entire route. This phase adds to the activities already underway on Lot 2, where over 7 kilometers of track have been installed. The parallel progress of civil works and railway infrastructure allows for faster completion and better resource optimization.
On Lot 2, between Črni Kal and Koper, more than 7 kilometers of rail have already been laid. Work is now extending to the opposite side of the line, along the Divača–Črni Kal section. In addition to track installation, the project includes the deployment of all technological systems: signaling, telecommunications, electric traction, video surveillance, and safety equipment.

Meanwhile, the public company 2TDK, in charge of the project, has launched a new recruitment campaign for workers and technicians to support the construction sites active along the line. The goal is to further accelerate progress across all operational sections. The development of this railway infrastructure – considered strategic for Slovenia and for the ports of the Upper Adriatic – continues to benefit from European support.

As reported by AdriaPorts on July 4, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has approved an additional non-repayable grant of €156 million for Lot 3, bringing total EU funding to €390 million, about 35% of the project’s overall cost.
