TRIESTE – Pordenone Interport is preparing for new infrastructure and technological works on its intermodal terminal. The City Council has approved two resolutions that will allow the completion of several rail works and the introduction of digital tools to control logistics flows.
The first measure concerns the completion of the intermodal centre through the extension of the rail embankment. The work is part of the project’s second functional phase and is aimed at extending the shunting yard to a length of 750 metres, in line with the European rail standards required for intermodal freight trains. The intervention will be fully financed by Interporto Centro Ingrosso di Pordenone Spa.
The second measure concerns the introduction of an advanced digital system for monitoring and tracing goods entering and leaving the Interport and the intermodal terminal. The project includes the installation of two structures dedicated to traffic control: an OCR gate and a totem at the terminal entrance.
